So... I just heard this song. Sort of slow and sappy, but with lyrics that made me smile and chuckle a bit. It was a song about Christmas, and religion, and about out western consumer society, I guess. Pretty funny stuff, and definitely a bit snarky here and there.
Then the last verse came around. And I found myself crying. I wasn't sad. More like touched. And totally unprepared for it, even if the chorus should have warned me.
Damn you, Tim Minchin, for suddenly turning your humorous songs into something heartwarming and touching. And thank you.
...I think I'm getting old. Think I need to listen a bit to Obituary or something, and pretend that I'm badass.
