I got this fox skin a while back. It's old and falling apart, but the fur is very soft and thick. So I've been wondering what I could do with it. Today I started cutting off all the fur. It's turning out to be a lot.
Add some boredom to that and you have me making a very improvised spindle out of a pen and a small hook, and starting to spin yarn of it. It's a bit tricky since I'm used to wool, and fox fur is very different from wool. But it works. I made a meter or so just to try it. So tomorrow I'm either emptying my real spindle, or borrowing another one and really getting to work on this.
The question is: what should I do with this yarn once it's done? Add it to the blanket I'm working on (which is in dark gray-scales so far)? I don't think mittens would be any good, since I don't think this yarn will be all that durable. So socks wouldn't be any good either. A hat? Wrist warmers? A scarf? I really don't have a clue.
