Leksand Open-air Medieval Market

I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I've now started to join the vendors who travel around the open-air medieval/viking markets that goes on here and there during the summer. After having spend a couple of months making necklaces, bracelets and such, it was time for the actual debut this weekend, at the 10-year anniversary of Leksand Medieval Market.

All in all, it went well. Got thoroughly pissed off at the lack of organization and information from the clan I traveled with, but it was still good fun. Didn't sell much, but enough to cover the expenses while there. I left the market with slightly more money than I came there with, plus a nifty little drinking horn that fit well hanging from my belt.

The weather was great. Almost too great, as there were minor cases of heatstroke happening. A friend and I battled against this by constantly pouring cold water over ourselves. So there were a couple of damp and even drenched ladies selling our wares.

Next up is Stallarholmen Viking Market next month. We'll be much better prepared for that one, I think. After that it's Saltvik Viking Market on Åland, and hopefully Visby Medieval Week on Gotland after that, if I can scavenge enough time and money for it.

viking-stuff, fun stuff, travel
