Sensai Premier from Kanebo, a three-step skin care system priced at a previously unheard of $1,320, sold out in two weeks at Saks Fifth Avenue. The Essence from Crème de la Mer, made mainly from fermented algae, is - for now anyway - the world’s most expensive face lotion, at $2,100 for a three-week supply. Stay tuned. And Hair Dryers Top Out at $300. The appetizers I tried included a riveting trout tartare, which came in a densely packed puck of roasted pine nuts, mustard seeds, chives, chorizo oil and, as a final reach for richness, a quail egg. Among the entrees, I loved a delicately fleshy skate wing, topped with a foam of clove, cinnamon and cocoa. A duck breast was tough and the tables are seriously cramped. But the easygoing, anything-goes downtown vibe goes a long way toward making up for that.
