Having recently watched Metal: A Headbangers Journey I found it rather amusing to hear what has become of Gorgoroth recently.
On the DVD the person interviewing the vocalist of Gorgoroth (Gaahl) asks him " Whats the most important thing to you in your music?" To which he only gives a one word answer "Satan". He is then asked "What does Satan represent for you?" Again another one-worded answer "Freedom".
He is then asked one last question, " Do you agree with church burnings?" To which his response is "Yes 100% and there will be more".
Having seen this I then thought to myself well he comes across as boring at first and the a cpmplete and utter cunt the next.
So is it not somewhat amusing to discover today that Gaahl is now serving a life sentence for kidnapping a member of the public and with the help of his friends (not the band)proceeded to torture them?
Now what with the guitarist leaving and the vocalist inside, does Gorgoroth actually have any future, and more to the point who cares?
I would like to say however I get the impression that Gaahl is trying very hard (in fact too hard) to be Vaag "The Count" Vikerness, from Burzum who is also serving a life sentence for church burnings and for killing rival a member of the rival band Mayhem. After all this is not the first time Gaahl or his cronies have hasd a brush with the law.
I whole-heartedly agree with Metal: A Headbangers Journey in as much that it does say that black metal is losing its touch on reality, for them its no longer the music its the image behind the music and people are getting bored of the same old crap. Black metal will rapidly die out for the majority and will be known as one of those "blip on the screen eras"
Don't know why i went on but hey hope it makes for a interesting read.
Long live thrash and death metal!
