New MacBook!
Okay, all you Apple fans, I just ordered a brand new MacBook (White, 2ghz, SuperDrive, 1GB ram/100GB hdd) from the online Apple Store.
I have been waiting for Apple to release an Intel laptop with a sub-15" screen for a year, and finally they come through. Thanks, starrynixon, ryanluvscandy, zebe, and thebig0 for (indirectly or directly) contributing to the release of this sweet machine.
EDIT: mrmouse also undoubtedly contributed significantly to the above computer, and his involvement is very sincerely appreciated.
Over lunch, I went to the local Apple Store to see if I could get my hands on one sooner, and I had the following conversation with an Apple Store employee:
...
Me: "Hi, do you have the new MacBooks in?"
Sales: "No, not yet. We might get them by the 23rd."
Me: "Oh, well, they are so fantastic."
Sales: "Most people are waiting to use them in person before buying. And, they're new, and it is Apple, so there are bound to be problems."
Me: "Well, I already bought one. I was just hoping I could get one here sooner."
Sales: *Shocked look* "You BOUGHT one, without even trying it out?"
Me: "Yes."
Sales: *Condescending look* "That's the bleeding edge."
Me: "Yeah, well, I've been using Macs for 20 years, so I think I know what I'm getting in to. And Asus (mfr of the Macbooks) is rated of the highest quality."
Sales: "Well, be careful."
...
Can you believe that? It's like going to a Chevy dealer and having the sales guy tell you that the new models are crap! Unbelievable.
