At some time in the day, after someone's breakfast (which he didn't eat) and before a picnic (which he will attend with effort), there are not one, not two, not three, but several knocks at Zachary Smith's door. Have another two for good measure.

And at some point in the day when Zach is just you know, doing whatever, in between reuniting with his favorite cheerleader ever--the only one he ever liked at all actually, likes--and other things, the still self-proclaimed geek hears the knocks. They seem a little frantic. Does someone need help? Maybe someone's confused this apartment with the next one over? He'll redirect them or something, is what he's thinking as he opens the front door.

Oh.

Oh.

He stares for a moment.

I remember you.

"...Caspian?"

Just making sure.

"Hello, Zach, are you busy today," says one Telmarine who barely hesitates before stepping into the apartment. Uninvited. What a rude Caspian X.

Oh yes, it is him. See the ridiculously nice hair?

He sees your ridiculously nice hair and raises you...nothing. Sob. Anyways, closing the door now, okay? Geez, in a hurry much, Telmarine?

"Uh, well...I guess...not...uh...what are you doing here? Are you okay? You don't look okay."

Even with the hair.

"A little--I mean I am not particularly okay, but only by a little."

The carpet.

He brings a hand up to run his fingers through waves of brown then helps himself to a seat on Zach's sofa.

"I had a terrible headache from last night's challenge, and when I woke..." Rather than explain, Caspian just brings two fingers to each temple and rubs.

Give him a moment. He's noticed something different about you too, Zach.

".....Caspian."

Zach moves over to sit next to him, and...

...stare.

Seriously. What? It can't just be a hangover. Surely the young king has had one before. So what? A bad dream? No...something's amiss, now if only the geek could put his finger on it. But you know, it would help if Caspian would provide him with another verb, a few more nouns, something a little more concrete than the general something has greatly disturbed me and now I have come to you for what reasons I myself do not even necessarily have fleshed out but oh here I am and here you are and well I have a problem, what problem is that you ask well just hold on I am getting to that in a few years or so...

Something a little, little more concrete.

"When I woke they were all--"

He pauses and looks to the man sitting next to him. He cannot help but stare at Zach. Stare stare stare.

"When I woke they were all like you," Caspian says, distractedly.

"Older?" he asks and then laughs slightly. "How much?" he's curious because he knows this story, of course. Shifting so that he can better face the rather bothered Caspian X, his brow raises, amused. "It can't be that bad. They're technically older than they look anyway."

Logic. Have some.

"Unless they're like...old old....?"

"Yes, older. No not old old--they're... they're their proper ages," he nods then clears his throat, "so it isn't accurate to say like you, but... you understand."

"Yeah, I understand, but Caspian, what I don't understand," he sighs and looks at his friend directly. "...what's the problem with that?"

Let's ignore that question for now. He chooses to study Zach's face and ask his own questions instead.

"Are you only older or did you... leave and come back?"

For a moment the geek only stares back at the Telmarine. What? What?

"Do you not like them looking their normal ages?"

Evasive action #984572...denied.

So you want to play that game do you? He stares back at the geek. Yes. Yes.

"Did you leave and come back?"

Evasive action #984572 plus level 3 of repetition.

"They're really that age all the time, so it's not that big of a deal is it?"

Evasive action #984572 + repetition level 3, also denied.

He leans back into the couch to sink into it, lower and lower, like a carpet trying to be a couch cover.

"Did you leave and come back?"

Evasive action #984572 plus last ditch effort to fail.

"You know," he leans forward, because if Caspian thinks that sinking down into the couch will grant him escape or extra evasive points, he's wrong. There are the beginnings of a smile on the geek's face as he shrugs as if innocent of any statement he might or might not make. "It must be nice for them," he remarks. "To look the way they feel all the time. I think it would be really hard to be one thing and look like another thing."

All your evasive actions?

Are belong to Zach.

Give. Up.
