HOME | My brother. He's there and not here so I guess that counts.
HERE | No one knows who I am. I mean, my friends do and Gossip Girl likes to make it a point of mentioning me but it's nowhere near the scale it is back home. I can walk around outside without worrying about who's taking a camera phone picture to send in as a tip. So, yeah. I like that the name Serena van der Woodsen doesn't mean anything here.

At home I feel like I have a grasp on things, or at least sort of...

Things are simpler at home. Because I don't know as much--- because she leaves before---

But I like the time this place gives me with people, getting to know them better or just spending more of it with them.

I don't want to be irrelevant but at the same time, I wish I could go unnoticed. It doesn't really make any sense.

I like that, too. I just hate the nagging feeling that one day you won't remember all of this.

And I don't think it makes as little sense as you think it does. You can want to matter to people without wanting the spotlight.

You can want to be seen, just by one person. Or...

I don't mind the curses or deities as much as other people. It's more about how much you end up knowing here, about the future sometimes, by accident, things people aren't really meant to know, you know, ahead of time. It...can be overwhelming.

I like to think I can handle most things but--

The thing is I've been in the spotlight since I can remember. I don't know that --

Without Gossip Girl, I don't know what makes me special.

I haven't been on the receiving side of that kind of info. I mean, my friend from home is from a few weeks ahead of me and he told me some things but they're pretty standard, "We graduated from high school, we're off for the summer." That kind of thing.

When Dan - someone else from home - got here, though. That was a little harder. He's an entire year behind and it's hard not to let things slip or treat him the way I would at my point in time.

Maybe being here can help you see that there are other things---I'm sure---that make you special apart from being the target of someone who obviously doesn't feel very special themselves. Gossip Girl. It's weird, I can't imagine having something like that, that wide reaching, in every day life.
