Falling behind!

December 11 The best place. A coffee shop? A pub? A retreat center? A cubicle? A nook?
The best place for me in 2009 was the Hungarian Pastry Shop, especially in the morning when not too many are there. It is that really beautifully-earned thing, the neighborhood coffee shop, where there are regulars, there are new people, there is a community, continuity and movement all at once. The food and coffee are actually just okay, but there's something about the place that keep people coming, and it is really all about the place. Also, I am kind of in love with Butler Library at Columbia. I like finding new nooks and rooms and inventing and assigning different purposes for each one. I think I made a concerted effort to embrace my last year of grad student-ness; I am slightly bummed to graduate!
December 12 New food. You're now in love with Lebanese food and you didn't even know what it was in January of this year.
I got a George Foreman grill and it rocks. Not really a new food, but now I make grilled cheese sandwiches to my heart's content!
