Things that make me happy today:
* Free Dunkin' Donuts coffee and donuts in the lobby of my office building, for "tenant appreciation." A free sprinkled donut after a rocky-start morning is a gift from the gods, and should not be questioned.
* Chilean miners being rescued. My favorite headline: "Rescue effort ahead of schedule." How is that possible, unless they were on a ten-year timetable?
* Plans to see the New York premiere of Leonard Bernstein's
A Quiet Place * Finding Newman's Own orange-chocolate chip cookies at the grocery store (I am a woman of simple pleasures--and I thought these cookies had been discontinued).
* The new Ben Folds/Nick Hornby album. It had been moving in and out of my consciousness for the past couple of weeks, and then conversations with Lisa and then Jacob reminded me to go ahead and just download it already. It's still early, but it could push the Black Keys down a little on the obsessive playlist.

Steve Martin has a new novel coming out this November
* And last, but not least: tomorrow is live 30 Rock day! Without the iron fist of Lorne Michaels, will Tracy Morgan decide he has enough cash to cover various $50,000 fines? Will Jon Hamm have the floppy hair-to-stubble ratio of perfection? I'm looking forward to finding out.
