Sigh.
So, I went on the quest to find a perfect flapper dress for the
Bon Voyage Ball, because no one loves a theme more than me and the idea of trotting out a dress that WASN'T somehow a perfect replica or cheeky homage to 20s fashion simply wasn't an option. If I could have actually gotten my hands on some replica Lina Lamont costumes from "Singin' in the Rain, I would have, especially
this little number with the feathers at the bottom.
So, I was trolling around on ebay and found something fairly perfect, and won the auction primarily because I hate losing and some wench kept outbidding me (let's just say my max bid went a good $50 beyond what I'd planned to spend). I got the dress for over 50% off, but it was still a pretty penny, and now I'm having buyers remorse for dropping a large sum of money on a dress I don't even know will fit me. I could always re-sell, I suppose, but that would be a fairly large pain in my arse.
At any rate,
here it is but imagine it in gold. I've actually seen a version of it live in person and it's impressive, really heavy beads. Thoughts? Too "Showgirls"?
Also, if anyone wants to know of a couple good sites to buy amazing replica flapper/art deco dresses, I have a running list going.
