Americans don't really mind immigrants. We just don't like the ones who aren't from northern Europe or the ones who don't have white skin.
If a bunch of Germans wanted to come stay with us, we'd have no issue. Mexicans though, we don't like those. They don't come from a trustworthy continent (most people seem to think that Mexico is part of South America).
It just occurred to me that the issue was never really immigration at all.
