every time someone mentions this film, i feel an urge to rise and scream "this is the most beautiful film on the planet".
i find asian films to be quite poetic in general. [to me], in the mood for love is poetic in a different way. it even has something that other films of wong kar-wai don't. 2046, the so-called "sequel", is nothing compared to it, and it's not even a bad film.

In a sense it would. Although it has Tony Leung playing the same character, he has a totally different attitude in 2046, but as most say, he's cynical behaviour is because of his inability to love and that he can never feel the love from Su Li Zhen (ITMFL). SO i guess you can say, it was through the events in 'In the mood for love', which led him to become the person he was in 2046. And theres some other things in 2046 which are simply repeat from ITMFL like the secret in the hole and all.

I also reccommend you watch 'Days of being wild' as well, which is considered the first part of WKW's 60's trilogy. Both the sequels have links to DOBW, which is why they're pseudo sequels. Hmm i think i've explained a weee bit too much. I hope you enjoy them :)

My favourite film. It's so beautiful that it's like an hypnotic experience.

I want to live in a world that looks like a Wong Kar Wai film.

Maggie Cheung with Tony Leung, what can go wrong?

My mother loves Maggie Cheung and after I saw this movie I understood why.
