I came across
this article today on msn.com about giving Oscars to the (sometimes) right actors for the wrong parts.
RIGHT ON.
I've been complaining about Crowe's win for Gladiator/The Insider for years now.
The only one that didn't make the list, IMO, was John Wayne's win in 1969 (I think) for whatever standard Western he did that year. It wasn't for his role, it was a lifetime achievement award masquerading as a Best Oscar statuette, and with Wayne's ailing health, the academy saw it as their last chance to give Wayne an Oscar.
