I agree with this review whole-heartedly. As someone who will almost ALWAYS choose the bloody action film over the rom com fare, I've always had a soft spot for this film. I love Sandra Bullock in it, I love Bill Pullman's bashful guy-next-door performance, and you've hit it straight on the head: it's the loud and loving family moments that make this worthy of re-watch.

The other day I found myself thinking about this movie for no real reason, and after reading this review I'm definitely going to pull out my much-loved VHS copy after work. :D

It's just so damn wholesome while still being entertaining. I really really love this little flick. Christ, it was only made fifteen years ago, and yet the sorry state of current Hollywood chick flicks has really shown how MUCH we've gone downhill since this movie.

Turteltaub also did National Treasure - another MAJOR guilty little pleasure of mine and yours. I didn't realize he did that as well until I looked him up last night while writing my review.

You only have this on VHS? HMMMMMM!!!!!

My mom and I enjoy very few of the same films, but this is one that we'll always sit and watch together! It's such a sweet little story.

Exactly! That's what's so wonderful about this movie! There are precious few films that bridge those gaps. Yay!

zombres linked to this review, and I was curious to read it because I truly love this movie, and often times feel like I'm alone in that. I'm so glad others feel the way I do! I agree with every point you made. It's an underrated gem, and one that I make sure to watch every Christmas, and other times throughout the year (often when I need a smile).

The more I see While You Were Sleeping, the more I feel it's such a legitimately good film, and I wanted to write about it here to get some more love out there about this great little flick. More people need to share their love for it. Like I said in my review, even my HUSBAND - hockey-watching, video-game-playing, horror-movie-loving - will sit and watch it with me whenever it's on. It's awesome.
