The nominations!
Surprises - and all of them good!
1. No Russell Crowe!
2. Keira Knightley for Pride and Prejudice! While to me she was the weakest part of that movie, I'm thrilled to see the film getting some major category Oscar love!
3. William Hurt in A History of Violence! ROCK ON! Also pleased to see this film got a screenplay nomination. It's a very very good film, and it had pretty much fallen off all radars. Kudos, Oscar, for remembering!
4. Although not terribly much of a surprise, I was stoked that Paradise Now pulled a Foreign Language Film nomination out of the hat. Because it's awesome and amazing and has one of THE best final scenes in a film I've ever seen. Ever.
5. And, finally, because this is me after all... Capote with five nominations!! SQUEE!!! Yes yes yes, it won't win best picture, but just that it's nominated, and nominated a number of times, rox my sox.
