I am a non-discriminatory movie buff; many of the films I enjoy could never conceivable be described as "High Art". And of those films, there are several that hold a near and dear place in my heart. I'll just cover the top three:

(1).

The Mummy (1999).
Okay, so the acting wasn't Oscar-worthy. And the special effects were a bit low on the scale. But something about that movie is just SO entertaining to me. Maybe it's all of the little oddities I've picked out with my friends, or the weird facial expressions Brendan Fraser and Oded Fehr seem to love when the camera's panning away from them. It was the first movie I saw in the theatres with my friend Amanda, and the movie I'd always put in when Lauren and Heather came over for an evening. I'm sure I've seen The Mummy at least 50, if not more, times, and have every nuance memorized. And it was the movie that introduced me to Rachel Weisz, so it holds a special place in my heart.

(2).

Army of Darkness (1993).
The ULTIMATE of great B Movies. The one-liners, the cornball special effects (OMGWTF CLAYMATION SKELETONS = ♥!!), and Bruce Campbell (a must-have in every B movie)... What's not to love?

(3).

The Three Musketeers (1993).
A Disney version that takes very little from the original tale by Alexander Dumas, there are plot holes and factual mistakes galore. But there is something so charming about this movie! I love period-set films, even those that botch most of the facts up. And anything French-set immediately has my good favor. But most of my infatuation with it must sit with the casting: I adore Oliver Platt's goofiness, Keifer Sutherland for being Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen before his fall from grace, thought Rebecca De Mornay was WAYYY too beautiful, and still think Chris O'Donnell was absolutely GORGEOUS as D'Artagnan. And Tim Curry? ONLY THE MOST FANTASTIC VILLIAN-ACTOR EVAH!!! (He's up there with Gary Oldman, who - coincidence! - was the first choice for Cardinal Richelieu) And another tidbit I absolutely love; Hugh O'Conor, who played King Louis, also played Pere Henri in Chocolat, which is a fantastic movie through-and-through that has a firm position in my top ten of all time.

And so, I bow before you, full prepared for some laughter at my cornball-ness. X^D
