Mutually exclusive
For friends of mine who have a religious bent. I was scanning a journal that had a pull quote "...to the consternation of both evangelicals and liberals."
Do liberal and evangelical have to be mutually exclusive?
I guess I have always taken evangelical in its more traditional meaning, even while I am theologically liberal. So I see evangelical as one who shares the "good news". The other meaning I use refers more to a style of worship. I have never used it as a synonym for conservative.
Any thoughts?
