Disney Legend Annette Funicello has passed away at the age of 70.

Why? Because we love you.

-----

Who's your favorite Disney cartoon character from the 1950s or earlier? Mine's Professor Ludwig Von Drake, voiced by Paul Frees.

Uncle Scrooge was created around 1950 or so, but he wasn't a cartoon character properly for quite some time, was he?

Because otherwise I would totally count him.

For some reason I was quite convinced that Mortimer Mouse would make rat's nests in my hair while I was sleeping. Which is just plain creepy when you think on it.

Mickey n Minnie, definitely.

My Disney years as a child were more in the live-action movie phase of the 70s and 80s. Favorite movie of that era is Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

One I want to go back and catch is The Great Mouse Detective. I think I saw it when very young but I can't swear to it.

I loved the combination of Professor Ludwig Von Drake and Goofy. Inevitably, somewhere along the line, the scientific monologue of Von Drake would leave Goofy in some horrific spot wherein Goofy would let out a glorious yodel of terror.

J. Audobon Woodlore - another of Sterling Holloway's characters - the park ranger who taught the bears how to pick up the trash: "First you stick the rag, put it in the bag BUMP BUMP!"

Oh wow. I've had that as a back-of-the-brain earworm for years.
