Looking over your post, I have one thing to add and two to disagree with.

To Add: I believe that every firearm should have a fired round on file with the National Integrated Ballistics Database. It should be a minimal charge to offset the expense of processing it, but mandatory for every firearm. It would be a good step forward in closing crimes. And have a introductory period where it's free.

To disagree: I've been shooting for over 25 years now, and am a happy and safe gun owner. I can reload from a bagged magazine and resume fire in under 5 seconds, and many of my friends can go faster. Because of this, I consider magazine size irrelevant. I'm not really pro- or against, though I do own several 20 round mags for my Ruger 10-22 (because reloading a .22 magazine is a pain at the range), I just think it's a waste of money to ban something that will have no real effect.

The other item is that you should have to show your (proposed) license for any ammo purchase. I don't care if it's twelve rounds or twelve hundred, you should show ID.

Everything else, I think you're 100% spot on. But I think that most of us responsible gun owners feel this way. I just wish the NRA and the other rabid nuts out there would shut up for 30 seconds and listen to us.
