Skimpy superhero costumes on really buff guys. For a closer look, click here. Possibly NSFW.

Any exceptional cosplay you've noticed lately? Link 'em up.

Love this comment (3rd or 4th down at this point):

I'm getting really sick of these fake geek guys showing up at conventions just to get attention from geek girls/gays. I bet these guys don't even know that they're mixing continuities.

I just showed up to express my amusement at those "fake geek" accusations, especially since I know there's at least a 75% chance they're tongue in cheek. ;)

Context says sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, and sometimes saucing the gander with his own sauciness is its own reward.

My own take on the "fake geek" is this, I don't like anyone pretending to be something they're not, unless it's their job to be an actor. It doesn't matter if it's attractive people pretending to like geeky things or a geek pretending to like football to fit in with the "in" crowd. I understand that sometimes it's necessary as a matter of personal safety (which lies outside the argument IMHO) but as far as I'm concerned pretending to like something when you don't is just for actors trying to sell a product. Why? Because it's dishonest and doing so feels like they're making some snide sarcastic joke at our expense.
