Great sadness -- an American icon has fallen. Andy Griffith has passed away at the age of 86. We will miss you, sir. Thanks for being you.

May he rest in peace, and may those who loved him be comforted.

Of the list that Tex Ritter read in 'I Dreamed Of A Hillbilly Heaven' Andy Griffith was the last to make it to Hillbilly Heaven. I'm sure the others will welcome him.

I was just talking about him in the present tense yesterday.

Andy Griffith always seemed like a class act all the way. You never heard anything bad about him. He really was an American icon. May his friends and loved ones find solace in the good times they shared with him.

I heard it earlier today and was saddened by the news.

I have to disagree with your choice of words. The actor didn't so much fall as fade out of sight, and the icon will never fall so long as we have the technology to pass on his performances to the next generation.

It's sad to see him go, but he gave us so very much that won't be forgotten.
