GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Movie Coming (Spoilers for AVENGERS)
io9 says the movie leading into Avengers 2 will be Guardians of the Galaxy. I found verification of this at Variety.
They're going with the 2008 team, which means they can perfectly introduce team members Adam Warlock, Drax the Destroyer, and Gamora, all of whom have scads of history with Thanos (the big reveal at the end of Avengers). Not to mention Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Bug (a character Marvel originally created for the Micronauts toy line, which makes me wonder if they end up doing something with that property, especially if they decide to tie it in with the still-promised Ant Man movie).
Damn, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is fun.
So, at this point we have Iron Man 3 (in production), Thor 2, Captain America 2 (rumored to also feature Hawkeye and Black Widow, I'm so good with that), Guardians of the Galaxy, leading up to Avengers 2 in 2015. Maybe Ant Man, especially if the rumor is true that the post-credits scene in Iron Man 3 leads to it. In development, we have Dr. Strange, Inhumans, and Black Panther.
Who else would you like to see in the MCU? Assume we can't use characters associated with Spider-Man, Daredevil, the X-Men, or the Fantastic Four -- their movie rights are tied up with other companies, although goodness knows things change in the movie biz (apparently, Marvel and Sony had agreed for the OsCorp building to appear in the NYC skyline in Avengers, but the idea was dropped because The Avengers's Manhattan skyline was already rendered before the OsCorp building design could be completed). For myself, I'd love to see Ms. Marvel, Power Man, Iron Fist, and most especially The Scarlet Witch, The Vision, and Namor MacKenzie, the noble Sub-Mariner. As for villains, Klaw and Solarr were always fun; if we have Ant Man, Ultron is out there somewhere (and Jocasta for all the sexbot freaks); and the Kree and the Skrulls.
