It's not the selling, it's the asking (however obliquely and with stuff in return) for help for myself. And especially taking pre-orders. That gives me the willies. Strikes me as gauche.

And, "Rotten Robin" is going to be both on Sounds Familiar (of which I'll be having several soon) and the digital versions of the first two tapes, which I'll have as soon as Bill gets me the masters. :)

But I LIKE it when people let me preorder things.

1) *civic-minded version* making cool shit costs money. if it's reliably cool shit from a reliable person, I'm more than willing to pay the money into the kitty early so it's available for production costs.

2) *i'm-a-flake version* if I preorder something cool, then I don't have to REMEMBER to come back and order it in X months. it just shows up. like unexpected pudding.

Unexpected pudding is AWESOME.

Understand: It's just in regards to ME that it seems gauche. Other people do pre-orders all the time, and I get 'em from them. I just prefer, vis. my own stuff, to have everything ready before I start taking money for it. This is a real crunch-time exception, and if I can help it it'll never happen again.

I am sorry. I have an entire room in my house with no floor for the same reason. Speaking of which I need to call and nudge my contractor so that finally (9 months in) I can get it fixed.

If I could, I'd just put plywood over it or somethin'. But it's my bathroom. I need it to be as sturdy as possible, both for guests and for me.

Ours is just a spare room so I was not goin fancy. I did most of the demo myself - until I found the structural damage to the outside wall. I don’t mess with that, so i get to hire a contracter. I’ll do the finishing work inclucing laying new tile and the drywall. So much fun. I’m lucky it wasn’t something important like the bathroom.

How long is that $20 offer good for? 'Cause I don't get paid until Friday, and I'll still have to double check my finances then.

Most likely until the end of May. In fact, I'll put that up there.

Dude- it's important. You've had a knee worked on already. If you re-injure it (or the other one) because you went through the floor it would be bad. We all have a vested interest in keeping you safe. Asking is fine. I'm donating as of the 1st, when I get paid. Meanwhile I had an interesting mental image of what could happen if it weren't fixed, and you and your "throne" went plunging through the floor to the next floor down while you were um, occupying it. Briefly amusing, then scary.

I've had the same mental image. It's not pretty.

Might be good song material, though...

While in the bathroom all alone
I'm sitting here upon my throne
And feeling good...

But at least the insurance would cover it then.
