FILK: A Common Problem

Dec 26, 2016 22:27

Wow, finished up *two* songs tonight! The I happen to think that the Gillian Welch original version of this is a great song (although I first heard a bluegrass cover by the Dappled Grays). I'm pretty sure MANY of my friends can relate to this.

TTTO: "One More Dollar" by Gillian Welch

A few hours ago I took a book
Into bed for to read it
Where I'd lose myself in the storyline
My soul seemed to need it

And my eyes got heavy as I read
Thought I'd soon put my head down
In the next short while I'd close my eyes
And I'd go on to dream-town

One more line to finish the page
One more chapter and I'll disengage
When I reach a break point, I'll never weep
'Cause one more chapter and I'll go to sleep

A light shining under my bedroom door
There's the clock striking midnight
Though I'm long past the time I should be asleep
I read on, feeling alright.

One more line to finish the page
One more chapter and I'll disengage
When I reach a break point, I'll never weep
'Cause one more chapter and I'll go to sleep

A few hours ago started a book
It's the next in the series
I can spare an hour and still get some rest
Or at least that's the theory

One more line to finish the page
One more chapter and I'll disengage
When I reach a break point, I'll never weep
'Cause one more chapter and I'll go to sleep

One more chapter (yawn) and I'll go to sleep
