Busy and social!

This has been a super busy weekend. On Saturday morning, my cousin's son had his bar mitzvah in New City, NY. Normally that's not too bad, but getting there was Just Not Fun. We had a snowstorm on Saturday morning. There wasn't a LOT of snow, but it was sloppy driving. Most of the major roads had been poorly plowed and not really sanded (and one, the Palisades Parkway, had been neither plowed nor sanded). The drive was tiring as heck.

That said the Man of the Hour did a GREAT job leading the service. Following that, there was the oneg, a post-service reception and luncheon on the synagogue. The BIG party was Saturday night, but I wasn't going to be able to go to that, because that same night was my cousin's 40th anniversary party in Brooklyn at a Bukharian restaurant. Amazing food, all kosher, and oh-so-much of it. They just kept bringing more and more and more and...well, you get the idea. Plov, sambusa, shashlik. So much. So much food. And then it was back to stay up in Nanuet because there was a brunch for the out-of-town family of the bar mitzvah boy, and we don't get to see them very often.

I rolled out of the hotel (or felt like I did) and took a trip down Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park for what will probably be my last NPOTA activation of the year. It was a good one, I have to say. 144 contacts, ranging from Washington State in the west to Italy in the east.

All in all, a great weekend.
