Radio nattering

I haven't really had a lot of time to play radio the past couple of days, so I took a few hours out of m afternoon to set up an antenna and get on the air. I was hoping to add a few more parks for NPOTA. Also, this weekend is Jamboree on the Air so I was hoping I'd catch some of the Scouts as well.

I didn't have a whole lot of luck with NPOTA or JOTA -- one park in New Hampshire, one Scout troop in Maine, but I still did OK. Today was also the New York QSO Party. The good thing is that I managed to get a fair number of stations all over my state. The bad thing is that the 40 meter band was full of stations, so I couldn't get through to any of the parks operating there, certainly not with either voice or Morse code. The Iowa QSO Party was also running today, so I got a few stations there.

On the bright side, there was also a contest going on in Germany, so I got two stations there. But my favorite contact today was with TG9IIN in Guetamala City. That's my first contact in Guatemala.

Tomorrow's forecast looks nice, so I'm planning to head out to Fire Island National Seashore and do a NPOTA activation there. Maybe I'll work some of you!
