SF addressing the world
So one of the things that SF should do is address the world, possibilities, and challenges.
I was struck by just how well the old TV show UFO did some of this -- take a look at this scene from an early episode. Straker makes an offer to Lt. Bradley and Bradley turns it down because of his skin tone.
"Racial prejudice burned itself out five years ago!" followed immediately by "How would you know?"
Really pretty intense. I've think I've underestimated this show for years. Maybe it's time I took another look.
