This evening, I went to
my French Meetup.com group for the first time in a couple of weeks. Challenging, but pretty rewarding, really. A few of the people in the group (as in most of them) have been studying French for a long while, and two have done full immersion courses (one is, in fact, going to France for a month to do another!).
What's surprising to me is that I can follow a lot of the conversation, even when it's far too fast for me to truly understand, and speaking is...painful.
As I once said, not only do I not know the right word, I don't even know the wrong word.
Still, I managed to keep up, take part where I could and not overflow my brain too much :) And I'm more determined to get there on a regular basis and PRACTICE my French, I should be able to make it the next two weeks, and after that I'll be in San Antonio for a little touristing and visiting pre-
LoneStarCon 3!
What's still odd is that even though I haven't studied it in a while, I keep freakin' thinking in German when I'm at my French group!
The brain is a weird and wondrous thing.
