If you want to keep up the running on a more social basis and combine it with some drinking you may want to consider joining the Hash House Harriers "A drinking club with a running problem". They have a website: http://www.ch3.co.uk/ or just google the name.

I think there may also be a club that's based at the Wrestlers on Newmarket Road, but I might be wrong.

Running's less of a "keep up" more of a last resort... and I can't afford to spend any more on booze than I already do...

What about geo-caching? Biking? (here in Memphis, we have groups that ride for fun and then there are the "serious" riders).

I was going to suggest swimming, but that's not a year-round outdoor activity where you live unless you're a wetsuit fan, so forget that.

Geocaching: I walk enough already, and it's not really a very phyiscal activity.
Biking: mode of transport, and that is all.
Drowning slowly while exhausting oneself: a slow and painful way of dying.
