[Despite the warning over the journals, Walter can't help but be intrigued by the "butterflies" flying around and "pecking" at villagers. He sends out his teriques in a small, fairly-harmless form resembling the Tease in an "exploratory" mode ( Read more... )

butterflies should be nice things, like black teriques

[Fenimore is staying inside house 34, because she's not a lunatic. So she'll probably meet you there when you get back. ...Presumably the others are around somewhere and she'd probably be usually sticking around with them most of the time, but unless anyone wants to make this a three+-way thread, she'll probably be on her way to checking the door for the umpteenth time to make sure it's really, really shut.

She's also carrying a broom as though prepared to whack any Tease that sneak in. She did read Allen's guide and knows that a stabbing weapon is better, but she really doesn't want those things to get in knife range, even if it was the largest in the kitchen.

Long story short, Walter may be greeted by a very timidly approaching Fenimore clutching a broom bristles-side-up in both hands.]

[Walter shuts the door firmly as he walks inside, his Ferines clothes dripping rainwater onto the doormat. He shakes his head, more focused on his hair and clothes at the moment to address Fenimore.

The Tease is still trapped inside his teriques, perhaps fluttering a little more aggressively now that there is another person nearby who can be snacked on.]

[She's startled by the opening door, but, luckily for Walter, she's slow enough to react that he's already inside by the time she thinks she should shut the door over.

She sighs in relief, lowering the broom.] Walter, you scared me! What were you doing ou--?

[Only shock prevents the gasp from becoming a scream when she catches sight of the Tease. She stumbles back, accidentally dropping the broom.] Look out!

[Walter blinks hard when he hears Fenimore, taking a step backwards as the broom clatters to the floor. His brows knit together in confusion, briefly, as he doesn't see what startled the girl.]

What is it, Fenimore?

[She points.] B-bu-bu-butterfly!

[...This was somewhat less dramatic of a pronouncement than she had intended.]

[Walter cranes his neck back as Fenimore points, looking directly at the Tease as he realizes what she's doing.] ...It's not going to hurt you. Not while it's trapped.

[Now the teriques cage really registers, as she was too concentrated on the butterfly before. She seems to relax a little, but then tenses again.] You caught one in here?!

[And Walter tenses as well at the very idea.] No. There better not be any of these things getting inside.

We've been keeping the windows shut, so I don't think... [There's a pause as a realization hits her.] You brought it in?

[And he blinks.] Of course I brought it in. It's raining outside.

Oh, I'm sorry. How rude of me to leave it out in the rain. Does it want a little umbrella? [The sarcasm vanishes as she changes over to a more heated tone.] What were you thinking? Get it out of here!

Not until I've finished studying it. [He shrinks down his teriques cage further, restricting the room the Tease has to fly in.] There's never been anything like this in Luceti before.

And there shouldn't be now! There are plenty of strange things in Luceti! Why are you getting interested now?

Because it's things like this that make us look like monsters.

What are you--? ...That doesn't look anything like a teriques! [But she says it as someone who knows exactly what to look for in a teriques. Also, the fact that she recognized what he meant that quickly kind of shows her statement to be false.]
