just over 22 years ago I worked in Africa, in Mozambique.
A month ago I was asked if I could go to Nigeria for a week for a project.
After delays and paperwork and who knows what I arrived in Abuja on Tuesday morning with my colleague RC.
Abuja is the Capital of Nigeria and our client is based there so we had a day with them for orientation. The flight landed at 5am and a driver met us and took us to the Sheraton. We sat in the back while a security guy sat up front with the driver. It was only when we gaot to the hotel that I noticed he was carrying a machine gun.
Tuesday was a bit frustrating. RS, our contact, was chasing round trying to sort a dozen things and didn't have much time for us so we did get time to see a little of Abuja. It is beautiful. It's a new town. Wide roads run through it, past beautiful buildings spaced out with lush forest netween. Little round hills stick up in all over the place.
meetings about to start...more later
