Of Poker and Withheld Insults.....

I played poker Monday night. Yep, back to back poker evenings. It went ok at frist, then downhill, then ended on a highnote. I wasn't really getting cards and when I played mediocre hands it didn't pan out well. I eventually busted out but then re-bought in. I then caught a nice wave of cards that put me in a commanding position.

I took out the 3rd place finisher when I flopped a straight on her, then suckered her in and put her all in on the River. I gotta admit, I played that hand perfectly. I was in the chip lead heads up but doubled him up when I had an open ended straight draw when he flopped the nut straight. I took second place, and the prize money was equal to my total buy-in. So I essentially played 3 hours, had a good time, and it really didn't cost me anything. I'll take that.

I've been meaning to write about this next thing for over a week now but kept forgetting. About 2 weeks ago, I was at work early in the morning. I was getting a cup of ice and heading upstaits when I ran into a person in this building (that I slightly know) walking into work. Now, I was not particularly happy to be awake at that time but I still managed to fake a nice sounding "Good morning. How are you?"

With a smile on her face, this tall and large women looked at me and enthusiastically said, "I am blessed."

The first thought to pop in my mind was to respond with: "Great. Go nail yourself to a cross."

Thankfully, I was able to hold back.
