[The feed clicks on when the communicator's owner sits up with a start and smacks the device with his hand, and while he's quiet for the time being, one glance at his face shows he is far from at ease

There was this-- this thing, Umi I've never seen anything like it-- [Catches himself before he rambles for too long, holding his breath for a minute or two.]
[She doesn't say anymore; simply slips the communicator into her pocket and heads up the stairs. She's uncomfortably familiar with the hospital layout by now, and she should have known that it was too quiet lately...
She puts those thoughts aside as she reaches the door, knocking a few times before pushing the door open.]
[He's folded up in as much of a corner as there really is in a hospital bed, one knee drawn to his chest with his arm hooked around it and his chin resting against the back of his hand, watching the communicator intently. Largely because it's the closest thing to companionship he had until actual people showed up. He looks up and smiles a bit.]
So this is... probably gonna sound kinda weird, but ...I think I died.
[There aren't many times that Umi is left completely unknowing of what to say...but this is definitely one of them. It's not hard to sympathize with what he's feeling -- it was an experience that no one should have to come back from. The smile just makes it a little more heartbreaking, a little more unfair -- it seemed so much like Hikaru, putting on a brave face...
She stepped into the room, moved to sit beside him on the hospital bed. After a little while, she leans closer, nudges him in the arm.]
[The smile persists, possibly widening a little when she nudges him. You're really good at making people feel comfortable, Umi, you know that? It's a good thing. He shrugs his shoulders lightly, shifting to sit Indian-style with his hands clasped around his ankles.]
I guess it's just weird to... feel like I died, or know I did, but... still be here. I mean... [Goes quiet, setting his hand over his heart, almost as if checking to be sure it's still beating.]
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'd rather be dead or anything, but... [Kind of rubs at his collarbone and hunches up, making himself as small as he can.] I can still feel it.
[She smiles a little in return, and then takes a breath, glancing around.] I dunno about you, but hospitals give me the creeps. Discedo is Discedo, but there's gotta be a better place to go than this.
[...] Hey. Welcome back.

... I know what you mean. It's-- [...] It's weird, right? That's not how it's supposed to work.
[And not coming back from something like that...might be a better thing, in the end.]

I'm glad you're back, Luke.
