When I was at work today I realized something (while listening to "Love Story" by Taylor Swift fifteen million times), from a young age, girls are fed this idea of love and what it's like, what it's supposed to be.  Let it be clear that I don't have anything against the woman who stays home with her kids/husband, leaves behind a career and possibly a social life, in order to raise her family.  I think that is one of the most beautiful and possibly rewarding jobs a mother, or in this day and age a father, could do for her/his family.  I think the idea that I'm having the most trouble understanding is that of the fairy tale that every girl wants to have, she wants to find her Prince Charming or her Romeo and get married in a beautiful white gown in a lavish setting with all eyes on her.  Of course I wanted that when I was younger, it seemed almost natural to me.  Is it, being love, all an illusion that we stop believing in after a while, just like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny?  Or is it something that we're just lied to about until we are old enough to know better or ask questions?  It also makes me wonder if there's anything like the love that Disney portrays, that we all engrossed while playing with our Barbies?  I highly doubt there is anything like the Disney love, what are the chances of a servant girl, finding her fairy godmother, able to go to the ball and fall in love with the handsome prince after just one dance only to be torn away at midnight and then her Prince Charming finds her and they all live happily ever after.  Does any girl really find her Prince Charming?  Is love something that we build up in our own heads so much so that when we find something that is meaningful we overlook it because we're set on searching for that one person that seems to complete us?

Again this leads me to question things within myself.  I shouldn't though, I should be confidant and self-assured, but dammit it's too difficult comparing oneself to literary characters.
