It occurred to me that several people on LJ are master photographers & camera experts.
I am looking to buy a waterproof digital camera & would love some advice re: what to get.
I am not a great photographer & my main goal isn't to take pictures underwater (though I will certainly do that), but to not have to worry about it surviving a trip through Southeast Asia during rainy season. I'm also backpacking, so lightness, hardiness & general unfussiness score big points. (I'm not sure if you can get waterproof digital cameras that use conventional batteries, or how easy it will be for me to recharge/replace batteries on my trip.)
(I've read consumer reports & their top 2 are the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 & the Canon PowerShot D10. I'm not sure how much the technical specs map on to my needs & would obviously prefer not to have to pay over $300 if I don't have too...though I can if it's a must.)
