The Metamorphosis Why This Must Be Read: This delightful little fic is fresh off the presses! I hadn’t planned on reccing Team today, but I saw this one and just couldn’t resist. :)
Sam walks into Daniel’s office and discovers a kitten sitting in his chair - one with remarkably intelligent eyes. So what is she supposed to assume has happened? After all, this is SG-1!
This hilarious story romps into crack and back again, as everyone but poor Mitchell takes the idea perfectly in stride. He obviously hasn’t been part of SG-1 for long enough, even if he’s convinced that Jackson won’t be happy about all the kisses and cuddles he’s getting…
This is teamy and funny and a real delight. Go read, and giggle!
Teal'c raised an eyebrow. Then, abruptly, he gave a huge and terrifying sneeze that shook the artifacts on their shelves and made both the rest of SG-1 and the cat flinch. Ignoring their stares, he sniffled, with as much dignity as he could muster. And that was a lot of dignity. "My respiratory system does not appear to agree with the kitten."
"Oh, that's too bad," said Vala with sympathy. "Daniel has such nice soft fur."
"It's not Daniel," insisted Cam, with gritted teeth.
Sam scooped the kitten up - Teal'c backed into the far corner behind Daniel's desk - and held it out to Cam. "Listen, I know it's weird. But you have to admit we've been turned into stranger things before. There was that time we turned into cave people, the time we could read minds, the time we all switched bodies, the time we turned blue, the time-"
"I get it," Cam interrupted, holding up his hands. "And by the way, please, don't ever remind me of those little misadventures."
"I'm just saying...look at him. The first time I looked at his face, I knew." Cam looked. The kitten, which when sitting just fit into Sam's cupped palms, was a nice, rather unusual tawny-brown color, with faint tiger stripes running through its fur. Its paws were too big for its body, and its ears were too big for its head, as very young kittens' were wont to be. It had round blue eyes, pale whiskers, and a pink nose. It was cute. It looked like a kitten.
"It just looks like a kitten, Sam."
"Look at his face, Cam."
Cam sighed, rolled his eyes and looked. The kitten looked quietly back, catching and holding his gaze. And, though it was in all other respects a perfectly normal kitten, the searching, rather pensive expression on its kitteny face was sort of familiar. Those eyes - it had knowing eyes.
Intelligent eyes.
"See?" said Vala.
"Oh, crap," Cam murmured. "This is not good."
"Mew," agreed Daniel.
