Character
Name - Jason Oliver
Fandom - Locking Up The Sun/OC
Canon Point - Post-Video
Age - 23
Gender - Male
Appearance -
Jason is a rough-around-the-edges kind of guy. Hair's a bit of a mess, and he doesn't want to do anything with it ever, so he just keeps it short and wears a hat. His camo hat to be precise. It's getting a little frayed, but things been with him for years and it almost never leaves his head, save for choice encounters and when he actually remembers to take it off before going to bed. Dude's got an affinity for camo, and dark neutral colors. However, his choice pair of sneakers are very classic-style in red with white soles and laces. They bring a particular flair to his otherwise fairly subdued style. He wears his black buckled cuffs just as always as his hat--a matching pair to his brother's--and his chains as well, the large ball chain around his neck and the square link chain around his right wrist.
Gent's a pretty fair toned-guy, what with there being no sun to tan, and all that self-tanning bull is just gay. And he's not that gay, but he slips over to the same side on occasion. His eyes are bright blue, and his hair is a very light platinum blonde--no bleach required. He's a pretty clean-cut guy, shaves every morning, gotta keep it looking fresh when you're shouting on behalf of the people.
This dude's got a certain kind of swagger. His step says a lot about him honestly. His strong face and back-sass is only skin deep, and sometimes, you can see the troubled guilt he carries bleed through in his body language. But on any other day, he stands with pride and defiance.
Personality -
Outside, he's this obstinate man, striving for better things. He comes off as strong, confident, yet also rational in his fearlessness. He's always been the one to make sure that his brother didn't fuck himself up too bad get himself hurt, always the one to pull him back from rushing headlong (unless it was headlong into homocest, because Jason is the conductor of that train). And he is definitely all of these things for certain, but those are also just the face he wears.
Jason has always been a worrier, and due to being the one that would lead and look after his brother, sometimes he can be demanding. Do this, it's good for you, keep yourself hydrated, yaddda yadda, all that stuff. He gets frustrated with people who don't take care of themselves. Drinking, sure, smoking, eh--everyone's got a vice--but otherwise, he's the kind of guy who likes to keep himself in the best health he can.
In case it wasn't already very much established, Jason is very close to his brother. He's a social guy, plenty of friends and whatnot, but he cares for Aaron more than he does anyone else, and he's the only one he trusts to really have his back too. Losing Aaron would provoke the greatest feeling of loss and it is very much his one true fear. He is also still haunted from the loss of his brother Jeremiah. ((This would have dissipated, however post-video, they hadn't even had a full-day with him again before winding up at the Carnival. So that guilt will only be added to now that they HAD Jeremiah, only to be somewhere without him again.))
But mopey stuff aside! He's a very lively guy, likes to party, drink, and shout. He loves ROCK, especially classic rock. Bad Company is his favorite song. Ever. If he hears it, get ear plugs. Really. No, I'm serious. He is the worst at singing along to that song.
History - ((Aaron and Jason's history is the exact same up until a certain point - so this initial portion is the same in both apps.))
Science and medicine has grown advanced--much more greatly than what we are currently capable of. Life has gone on after 2012, the world has not ended, but it's getting pretty damn close. As the sun has continued to burn through its hydrogen, it has progressively expanded, as predicted, however the rate of such expansion has turned out to be significantly higher than initially anticipated. Changes in the gravitational pull and orbit of the planet have caused the protective atmospheric layer of ozone to degrade, putting the lives of everyone on the planet at risk.
At first, not much regard had been placed in this. After all, the gaping hole over Australia never caused any trouble at all. And then as the atmosphere continued to fall away--slowly, but with great impact--the fertility rate dropped. In humans, and many breeds of animals, and the vegetation of the planet didn't wither, but they gradually began to grow less. Less plants, not as tall, not as much yield from crops. Upon closer observation, they realized that something had to be done. Ideas were tossed around. Space was still greatly out of the question. Technology in that field had not been optimized to sustain great amounts of life for prolonged periods of time, and suitable planets for recolonization were too great of a distance to travel for the amount of time that resources on travelling ships would last.
However enginneering alloys, thanks to the ever-continuing evolution of warfare, had proven to be very strong against nuclear exposure, and mass-production had already been achieved at the greatest potential for the resource. A project began, and soon, the Earth was encased in a protective barrier called the Earth Atmospheric Exoskeleton (E.A.E.). Within it, large generators were created to re-stabilize the atmosphere and also protect the Earth at the same time from the lurking ill-fate of the planet. The E.A.E. was also equipped with the ability to use solar power, so even as the Sun threatened, it still remained a great resource to humanity.
Of course, infertility is incurable, and with the fertility rate at 0.8 children worldwide, the population became to dwindle. More people were dying from sicknesses induced by the atmospheric drop than there were people being born. Most couples couldn't have children, and those that did couldn't conceive more than one child. By this point in time, the moral dilemma of cloning had been overcome and many companies had tried and dabbled in the science, but none had perfected it with success, most clones having died early on in their lives.
And then rose Absolution. Climbing up the research ladder, they provided technology to help with greenhouse environments so that famine wouldn't wind up a problem. It hadn't been so far with the increased mortality rate, however early preparation would do humanity better than dawdling on it--a point having already been made very clear. They also began experimenting in creating edible, nutritional synthetic food substances as well, with not so many advances in that field yet, but more than anyone else had even dared attempt.
Reaching out to infertile couples seeking children, Absolution offered them what they wanted: a child, good genetics--and more. Most couples wanted just one, maybe two kids, and Absolution offered that. For some though, Absolution demanded in the contract for the children that the couple take three. The children were divvied up at random, however there were three clones for each person's DNA that was donated. In rare cases, all three went to one home, in others there were twins, and some couples went home with just one. Then there were couples that were given the opportunity to have two or three clone children to be of random genetics. So long as the couples agreed to any and all demands and circumstances that would come with having the child(ren), they were free to raise them as their own.
Three subjects of the cloning initiative were chosen, selected for ideal genes and the potential to have ideal temperaments, and placed into adoptive care. They were raised as brothers, triplets - Aaron, Jason, and Jeremiah Oliver. They had no knowledge of their true origins, and had no knowledge that their lives were being guided from the beginning. As they grew, it was clear that the clones would not have the same personality...Aaron was outspoken, if a little clingy. Jason was optimistic, if a bit pushy. Jeremiah was quiet, but level-headed, intelligent. The most similar to the original subject of cloning. It was clear enough which one They would remove for the next portion of their experiment.
When they turned eight, They came. They took Jeremiah away, spinning some story about genetic defect, about one in three, about illness that must be treated immediately. They wanted to believe it at first. They wanted to believe that he would be right back. Days passed. Weeks passed. He never returned. The triplets became twins.
They tried to carry on without him, but they never let go of the thought that they could get him back. Both hot-headed and quick to argue, they banded closely together. They were determined, and they couldn't understand why their parents seemed so content to let things lie. They never buried their brother. They never had a funeral. They hadn't even been told that he had died. So they became very close, closer than they were to their mother and father, and they remained that way until they were old enough to move out. They didn't dwell, but they didn't mourn, either. They refused to.
They stuck together when they moved out. They lived together, making ends meet as best they could. They got by, leaning on each other, carving out a life for themselves in the torn world they lived in. It wasn't so long after they had gotten comfortable that they learned the truth - that their family was an experiment. That THEY were an experiment.
It was hard to swallow, but it gave them confirmation. Their brother was still out there somewhere.
And then They came to Jason. Offered that if he worked for Them, They would give Jeremiah back. It was an option. It was a way. But it wasn't going to be that simple, and they knew it. They couldn't place all their weight on one end of the scale. They had to play both sides of the field. Jason agreed, and Aaron stepped back to fight against Them.
It wasn't until it was too late, until they were both too invested, when they began to realize that that was part of the experiment, too.
~~
Absolution had achieved their goal. Was it one goal, even, or many? Cloning, genetic engineering, and the perfect, most wide-scale social experiment ever.
The next step now was one that weighed more heavily on Jason than he'd originally thought. Living on his own, no big deal right? Only for as long as he could remember, he had always been looking out for his brothers, both of them, until Jeremiah had been taken away. The only thing that had hurt worse to him than the loss of his brother was how it impacted his family. And now Aaron was alone, and he'd always been the one to see the downside to everything. He worried for his brother half the time, still having his spare key he'd made up to his brother's apartment... should he ever need it. Knowing his brother, he probably would.
Good at putting on that defiant face, he fought against him, kept up his face for Them, tried to make it convincing. But sometimes when a lie is convincing enough, you get caught up in it. It becomes you. In that empty apartment of his, he worried for his brother, but in that protest arena, this was win-or-lose, a fight with no end until his brother surrendered. Because he never would. It was just something that he snapped into instantaneously, a mindset that had been conditioned over time. That in and of itself is worrying, but moreso was the state he found Aaron in one night, after one of many protest against the other.
They were fools, lost and driven into thinking that they didn't have each other's backs anymore, and it was pitiful that an attempt at suicide was what it took for them to both see that they'd made a mistake. But that night after fixing him up and making sure that his bro was doing okay, they came to realize together that they were too distant, and that this needed to be fixed.
So they worked it out, and together, they reached him. He was among Them, but they woke him up. They woke all of the up from the strange hive mind they had been under. First, terrified that his brother had been one of Them, then relieved that they had found him and reached him. So relieved and happy.
So what harm could a little celebration cause? Until Aaron stumbled off, drunk and into the night, and in the chaos he couldn't find Jeremiah, but he couldn't let Aaron wander off alone, so he followed him, unaware that his recent achievement would be null and void.
Skills/Abilities/Powers - He actually can sing really well, but for some reason, whenever he sing Bad Company, it just sounds dreadful. He's also a writer--poet, in particular--and had been eye-balling the rock-star life before joining up with Absolution in the hopes that he would get Jeremiah back.
Power Restrictions - Dude's got nothin', man. Can't restrict what isn't there, bro.
Job - Ticket taker for the House of Dusk
Mark Location - On his throat, right over his esophagus.

Third Person Sample (Log) -
It's tough being the older brother. One moment, you're drinking and having a good time, a bro on each arm, celebrating how they had WON. They walked out from that rally, every single one of the cloned brothers there a member of the Free Will club. And it was sweet because for once he could be relieved. He could be free from the guilt and worry and loss of losing Jeremiah. Kid wouldn't touch a drink to save his life though, not after all the urging to have just one, just give it a try. He probably didn't get to drink at all in that stupid facility, so why not show his brother how to live a little?
Somewhere in the chaos and wild exuberance though, Aaron was no longer there. Jeremiah was... well, sober enough, he'd managed to get a little something in him, but he would be fine, just for a moment as he went to find Aaron, he was sure. It would just be a moment, Jason would find him and come back. First time in YEARS that they were all together again and Aaron's wandered off somewhere. It'd be pretty shitty if he'd decided to go fuck around with a dumb broad or some other douchebags instead of take in the fact that they have their brother back and this is so fucking awesome we could be The Three Musketeers.
Just. Just one moment was all it was supposed to be.
But once he caught Aaron in his sight, he ran outside after him--dammit, where is that idiot going?--and it shouldn't have been so hard catching up to a drunk man stumbling, but he himself was also somewhat inebriated, so it was actually pretty tough. That idiot is just wandering into a carnival. NOW, of all times? The gates started closing and it took all he had to get inside before they slammed shut behind him.
It wassupposed to be just for a moment.
