9/11

At first, life was normal. Wake up, eat breakfast, chill with friends, eat lunch while chilling with friends, return home, eat dinner, go to sleep, repeat. That's all there was to it.

Then came the day where Shiki was given a gift, his first Pokemon.

After examining the three carefully, Shiki decided on the little gentleman, or in this case, gentlewoman. The Water type became Shiki's traveling partner, and was almost never seen in her ball. The two got to explore their homeland, battling gym leaders and trainers alike.

But something was always off. The gym leaders seemed to hide something. Even the nurses who healed Shiki's Pokemon treated him strangely. It was as if everyone was sharing the same secret, leaving Shiki out of it. And every now and then something felt off, but Shiki could never put his finger on it. When he reached the Elite Four, he met the man behind it all, but was unaware that that man was that powerful.

Eventually, Shiki did find out about the Surrogate Project. He learned that he'd be cloned, but would then cease to exist while the clone took his place in the world. Being on his 11th life, Shiki could not accept this any longer.

When word got out that the Surrogate Project was being run in Shiki's homeland, Shiki wanted nothing more than to kick the butts of those who were behind it. But he knew he couldn't do it alone, or with only six Pokemon. So he set out for the other four primary regions in hopes of finding people and Pokemon alike who would help stop this project once and for all. He never got to see the rest of his homeland past the city with the eighth gym.

There were many people who wanted the project to end, but none of them believed Shiki could do anything about it, let alone believe they could help end it themselves. He also ran into many other Surrogates like himself, but he couldn't stand them for not realizing what they were going through. That's when he began to believe all Surrogates, himself included, could never got back to being human like before.

Although it seemed hopeless, Shiki managed to meet and befriend quite a few Pokemon, building up his team as best he could. Unable to trust the nurses at this point, Shiki kept all his Pokemon with him, hiding the spare Pokemon in his backpack. The Water type he had started with had been fully evolved for quite some time, and still traveled by his side. Shiki was determined to stop the Surrogate Project, no matter what.
