Trying to stay warm

After I leave work I'll head home. After I leave San Marcos I'll head to Austin. After I leave Austin I'm on my way to west Texas to camp and get shots like these. Adam, Wylie, and I are going on a camping/photo-ing trip to Big Bend, Terlingua, salt flats, and something else maybe? The weather conditions at Big Bend on Saturday night are a low of 27 and winds at 15mph. That said, I've been looking foward to this for a while now and I'm still real excited, cold and all. I'm going to have to stock up on cheap film on the way there. I'll miss out on a day of Speedy and a couple shifts of Gamestop which I am... actually a little upset about. I've come to like my two jobs a lot more than I expected. Gamestop sucks, as is the norm with most retail positions, but most of my time is spent being an idiot with nerds. Which I enjoy. The only downside to this whole trip and weekend is that I'm going to miss Tiffany terribly. This will be the longest period of time I've been out of town without her and I don't know if my phone can hold enough juice to make it through the weekend. /emo.

I don't know how long it's going to take but I want to start saving up for a Digital Rebel XT. I'm waiting for a BGN (bargain quality) to pop up on KEH. At any rate, I can expect to spend around $400. I've got Chris's adapter (for now?) so I don't necessarily need a lens to go with it. I'll end up buying a nice Canon AF though. I can't decide if I want an 18mm (wide) or an 80-85mm (portrait). Probably the latter since I shoot a lot of portraits with the lack of scenery here in Marcos. I can't wait to get into digital so I can stop having to deal with film and editing shots with as much grain as mine have. That's mostly the blame on the BAD FILM... I think.

I've got some film being developed at WalMart. Most of which (if not all) were shot outside last night at a couple of well-lit spots on the river here in Marcos. With the low-light and all, I'm kind of anxious to see how they came out. A majority of them were taken with appropriate shutter speeds... I managed to gather the balls to ask two random people if I could snap shots of 'em. One was a dude with a kayak and a helmet and the other was some guy laying on his back in the grass underneath the cone of christmas lights off Aquarena Springs. I hope those came out. I didn't want to get all up in their grills so I shot them a little wider than Wylie tells me portraits should be.

I'll update again when I get back Sunday night. My Flickr'll be flooded a few days later.
