sewing

So tonight was our first pasta dinner for oakton swim team. I was the first one there since I didn't go to practice. When I walked into the basment of Pat Hanlon's house, with a few other swimmers I saw Ms. Forsyth on the ground. "Crap....." I muttered. She was kneeling over a blanket that we would be sewing for community service. "Ok does anyone want to start?" Right then I knew I'd be the "volunteer", and Ms. Forsyth confirmed my nightmare when she smiled at me.... "Hi Jason! Here let me show you how to do it... you look so excited!" "yea....w00t.....sewing." i thought.

After a while the rest of the team trampled into the basement.... all 80 of them. I knew why everyone had been late getting there, they'd rather drink snapple and watch the Simpsons while a few of us worked on the blankets. After about 20 minutes of sewing the coaches came to talk to me.
"Oh... am I in trouble?"
"Jason... I'd just like to say, I'm very impressed!!" Coach Bennett remarked.
"Oh..... ?"
"Yeah, you're the only guy sewing!"
"Harhar...." I looked around. It was true... of the 10 people working on it, I was the only male. I sighed and got back to work. I hate sewing because I can never tie the thread and I kept pricking myself. Then I kept forgetting where to put the needle. Eventually I wiped the tears out of my eyes, finished my peice of cloth and went to go punch Alex for not sewing with me. 30 minutes later I looked back... 2 girls were busy at work undoing all the work I'd done.

Tomorrow is our first swim meet... it starts at 6:30 at Oakmarr. We are going to destroy Chantilly. I hope.
