The Lost Ones
part 1: In the Shadows
She was in her room. She was safe for now. She would take off her clothes before crawling into bed and if he was lucky he would her her soft sigh of contentment as she slipped beneath the sheets. Aiden grinned. His precious little thing, she wasn't sure of him. Hell, she didn't even know he existed. She never knew why she always felt the urge to turn around, or why, when she did, she saw no one. Never wondered why she felt odd when she was home 'alone.' Or guilty when she stepped out of the shower and down the hall to her room wearing nothing but a towel. Aiden prided himself on his stealthiness. He had watched this one for weeks now. He had been amused by the books she read about fairies and dragons, gnomes and elves and all manner of fairytale creatures. She thought she believed in them, but Aiden knew better. She didn't quite fully believe. Not yet. Aiden wished he could meet her, show himself to her and prove her wonderings right. He wanted to show her a world so different from the one she knew, but it was forbidden. So he would bide his time. One month of surveilance completed, and then she could be his. It was getting late and he needed to be home before sunrise. When he reached the window at the end of the hall, he hesitated. She would be asleep by now, and it would be only too easy to leave through her bedroom window instead. He wanted to catch one last glimpse of her before he left. He crept silently into her room and watched her sleeping form for several minutes, losing himself to the attraction he felt. Shaking himself, he glided over to her window and smiled, picking up a book entitled Interview With A Vampire. Shaking his head, he put the book down. "I'll give her an interview with a Vampire she will never forget." He decided, then took off out the window.
