A Slight Scare
Hello all,
You all know I don't write unless I've got something to write about, and I think I do today. I was up late last night, I had fallen into another book Socrates Journey (which is the latest book by Dan Millman and a prequel to his book The Way of the Peaceful warrior, which I highly reccomend) Anyway, about 5:00 I got a tingling in my left arm which bothered me a little and after a while (and probably quite a bit of thinking about it) I started to get a little short of breath. At this point, I woke mom up and said "maybe I should go to the hospital" So off we went. The drive there my arm would go from tingling to not tingling. I kept thinking that it was silly becuase 10 years earlier.. I had something similiar and it turned out to be hyperventillation, but I also figured better safe than sorry.
Anyway, we got to the emergency room, and after a very short wait they took me back, did a blood pressure check, and an EKG and some blood work, and had me wait in another lobby, after a while they came back in and said they wanted to do a chest x-ray, which they did (all in all I was there about 4 hours) They wanted to keep me overnight as a precautionary mesure, but since they said that I looked o.k. I decided to come home, with the promise that if I felt any pressure in my chest or something like that, that I would rush back there. Now while they were doing both the bood pressure and the EKG, my arm was tingling, so it should have shown something. The good news is that, my EKG, Bloodwork and Blood Pressure were all find (they actually said my bloodpressure was very good) Another good thing is that the chest x-ray showed no problems.
I personally think it was probably another case of hyperventillation, combined with the fact that I've got some knots in my back that make my arm go numb off and on and probably a little bit of hypochondria.. But that was pretty much how I spent my morning.. Have no fear, I feel fine right now, and at least I know (dispite how expensive it is) that if I have a warning sign like that.. that I'm smart enough to go to the hospital.
