Do they make Selsen Blue for your life ?

Hello everyone,
Many people who've been with me for the long haul will realize that when I go on an LJ rant, it is very often for comic effect, and I'm actually in quite a good mood when I do. Tonight however is a different story. (Time for a rant.. which may end up comic, but who knows)

The first question I pose is "Do I have the words 'It's completely cool to flake out on me 90% of the time' tatooed on my forehead ?" I've really reached the point where I'm sick and tired of people making plans to do something with me, and then backing out, flaking out or just plain no showing. (Now I'm not saying I don't flake out, or have shown up every time I should have.. but I try NOT to make a habit of it. If I tell you I'm going to do something.. I really do try to keep my word. That's why you'll often hear me say, I'll try, or maybe, or if I can, when I'm asked to do something. I also do not hold people responsible if I call them and say "Hey lets go grab a bite in about 5 mins." I will sometimes call and say that, but if they can't make it, it's no big deal. A Great example of NOT FLAKING out is my friend Carli. There have been a few times when I've said "Hey Meet us at.. so and so.." and she has always told me "Well I dont know if I can.. If I can I'll try to be there." Now that holds NO promises of being there. Somtimes she will be there and other times she can't make it but that's fine.

O.k. So today was a hungry day. A good friend was supposed to pick me up to have lunch with her, since the car was tied up with the nephews. I called and called, and no answer.. I also had made plans a while back to go to dinner with another friend. (which meant I couldn't go see a friends Preview tonight, but they've got another one tomorrow night) So I end up not going to lunch, and not eating anything because this person has told me three times that they're having lunch with me. Now if this where the first time that had happened.. that would be one thing.. but this consistentaly happens. So I have no lunch, and it's now too late to eat, because I'm having dinner with another friend. Who promptly calls me when it's time for me to leave the house to meet her "Oh I'm not gonna be able to make it tonight, can I get a rain check." O.k. once again, if this where a first time thing.. that would not be a problme.. but again this person consistently makes plans with me and flakes out at the last minute. So now it's too late to eat again, because I'm supposed to go to a Birthday Party for a Friend (it was a last minute invitation, but I told them I would come to the event if I could.. and so now with the dinner cancellation it looks like I can.)

So I leave the house, with plenty of time to get there.. I know the general area.. but can get no directions since their website only tells me what the person who invited me told me and if you look for it on mapquest.. its a dot in the middle of NOTHING.. no roads NOTHING. So I get to the general area and drive around for almost an HOUR looking for the place. Ask Directions and people aren't sure. I finally find it, and go in. I feel bad and am now glad I came since the party consist of my friend and his girlfriend (who is also a friend of mine) No one else has shown up. A friend is going to meet us after his rehearsal. so that's all good. O.k. so on my way there I get a call from my lunch no-show who tells me to call her that she's going to meet up with us after we leave. This leads me to my next question.

Question 2: "I realize that most everyone knows I'm a large tipper, but shouldn't there be limits ?" After spending a little while at the bar. We realize that if we move the party into a better area, closer to my lunch no show, and closer to our other friend reherasal, that it will be easier on everyone. (By this point another friend has called and found out where we're going and is going to meet us.) So we leave the bar, I give our waitress a very nice size tip for my tea. You see I do always try to tip well, because I know that waiters don't make any money except thier tips (their salary is just insulting in my opinion) So I've always tipped well and try to make sure that others do as well.

So we get to the new restraunt.. I finally (for the first time today get real food, granted it's now about 10:00 in the evening) My friend gets there from rehearsal, and our other two friends get there.. my lunch no-show calls and tells us that she's not going to be coming. (Now remember one of the reasons we moved to the new restraunt was to be closer for her to get there.) So that's all well and good. Finally it's down to four of us, and I get up to go to the rest room, have a smoke and play some bar crack (monster madness), Before I go I hand the waitress 20.00 for my 9.00 meal and ask her to bring me some change, so that I can tip her. I'm in the bar area, having a cig and knocking down the monsters, when one of our group comes up and says "We're moving outside because it's hot in here." I finish my game and come outside and ask "where's my change" The look dumbfounded, because the drunkest of them, decided that I wanted to leave ALL OF THE CHANGE FOR A TIP since I usually tip so well. (now I tip well, but NOT that well.. that was over 100% of my bill) By now the table has been cleared and my change has vanished into the waitress' pocket. So while I'm not out alot, it's still enough to make me more than a little angry.

I was going to go back on a rant about people being flaky, but I'm not I'm tried now and going to close.. I'm sure when I return I'll have a much more plesant post for everyone.. Hope everyone has a great day and a more than happy new year.

Love and Laughter Always
-Chris-
