I meant to include this in last night's post and forgot. Whee.
There had been a little bit of talk about doing . . . something . . . for this year's WorldCon, but it got lost in the bustle of WisCon-related activity. I also hadn't got the impression that there was a lot of interest. However, let's try again:
Is there any interest in, first, a WorldCon Assistance Fund, or, second, at-con activity?
I'm frankly feeling less than enthused about running another fundraiser, for several reasons: (1) we ought to start pretty much now; (2) I'm still handling administrative stuff for the WisCon fund; (3) I don't know if people would have the resources to contribute money or donations so soon after the WisCon fundraiser ended; and (4) that, combined with the likely-higher travel expenses, is likely to make administering a fund more difficult.
On the other hand, I'm definitely interested in doing something at Anticipation itself: meetups, Racism 101 flyers, pre-con consciousness-raising and planning a la
backupproject, something else? I did volunteer for programming, though a bit reluctantly; haven't heard yet. What would be useful, do you all think?
