003: On the wars of others

Our captors... they would also be Users, would they not? Am I obliged to fight for them as well? They require it of us, it seems, and it is a common occurrence. Very well. I will fight for them too, when they next call for it.

Not all have returned, either. I wonder their methods for choosing their fighters.

Users?

[Huh, that's new.]

Their methods seem pretty random. Most of the time, they'll drag people who can't fight out onto the battlefield.

Ah... yes. Those who live in this world. I have been trying to determine who is a User by my definition. They would be those who put programs to use... and since they have captured me, they would count as my Users. I think.

Why would they do something like that?

I am a security program, yes. I seem to be the only one of my kind here.

[There's a pause... Tron doesn't like this idea, especially if he's being told to fight for these people.]

Their methods are not logical. Do they want us to be killed?

...also, what is a labrat?

Even if we died here, they'd just bring us back. Our lives don't matter in the long run.

[...ah.]

Labrats are like test subjects, basically.

I have heard they have the power to do such a thing. It does not negate the sorrow that those feel who have lost.

...

That would be an accurate description of us, it seems.

I agree, but I doubt the Malnosso feel that way. After all, to them it's business as usual.
