Well, I changed jobs again. Oh, no, not like that. I still work for ACS. I just moved out of the Sup II position I was in and into the Quality Sup II position. Basically, I now have 15 people that report to me and what they do is listen to calls and judge how the quality was.
This is a good lateral move for me. I don't lose money on the deal and I do lose some of the crap I've been drowning in. I'm looking forward to a challenge I think I can actually WIN for a change.
When I became a Sup I, I knew I needed time to do a good job at it. I could have left anytime. I wanted to get a year under me at it. I did so. At the end of the year, I moved to Sup II. I knew I wasn't really ready for that yet, but I was excited by the challenge. The Sup II's I'd seen, they didn't do much and I could easily do what they did. Little did I know that my role would be completely different from thiers and totally not as Sup II as it should be, but more as an Ops manager, which is all numbers and driving results and all kinds of things I didn't know how to do. Mostly I had to "lead leaders" and the boss thought I was particularly bad at it and set about demoralizing me at every turn. That was the best.
Instead, I'll have a team of not-leaders. While I still have to drive results, the results are finite and have clear rules to them. In addition, I'll be in a quiet little area of my own instead of in the thick of things on the front lines.
Yap. Very happy indeed. Go me.
