Storms aren't common where you're from, sir?

[Blunt.] No.

[Pause.]

Are they common in your world?

Very common.

Usually, I'm not on land when they strike, though.

…Then you must know how to survive under these conditions.

[He ventures a guess.] At sea?

Yes, at sea.

Stay inside, and you'll stay dry. There shouldn't be too many problems. The wind may knock a few things around, but I would not worry too much about it.

It must have been difficult.

…And if one happens to be outdoors?

It doesn't show signs of letting up, so if you are uncomfortable, I would suggest getting somewhere dry, certainly.

Where are you, sir?

[Well, damn.]

The mountain region. I have acquired temporary shelter.

Then the best that can be done, really, is to wait the storm out. One can't really stop it, and since you're in the mountains, you won't have to worry about rising water, so long as you stay elevated and not in the valleys.

But it won’t end for hours, will it. At least, based on the length of the rainfall yesterday.

Is there a possibility of flooding?

A very minor risk. Not impossible but far from likely.

I see.

[Pause. Searching for an appropriate response.]

Your cooperation is appreciated.

You're quite welcome.

Do get in touch when the storm has passed, just to let me know you're still well.

The name's Hornblower.

It would be rather [pathetic, demeaning] foolish to die, as a result of this weather.

[Another crack of lightning. He jumps again. Damn storm.]

…My name is Gaara.

Not as foolish as one might think.

Have you lost any friends or comrades during sea travel?
