Well, today seems like an appropriate day to do that birthday meme that virtually everyone on my flist has been doing. ;)

My birthday is April 8th:

-1820 - The Venus de Milo is discovered on the Aegean island of Melos.
-1893 - First recorded college basketball game occurs in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania when the Geneva College Covenanters defeated the New Brighton YMCA.
-1971 - a 6 pound meteorite struck the home of Robert and Wanda Donahue in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
Two births:
-1980 - Grace Park, American/Canadian actress
-1980 - Katee Sackhoff, American actress
(How weird is that? Two actresses, both having major roles on Battlestar Galactica, both born on the same day of the same year, exactly five years before I was born.)
Annnnd...I know it says two births, but I have to include this one:
-1970 - JR Bourne, Canadian actor
...because I think it's just too cool that I have the same birthday as JR. Happy birthday to all three of those peoples, by the way!

1492 - Lorenzo de Medici, dubbed "The Magnificent", ruler of Florence and patron of arts (b. 1449)
I remember learning about that guy in Humanities class last semester. Yes, I actually remember something from that class...astounding, considering I slept through most of it.
