So I went to the library website, because I wanted to check my account to see if any of my reserves were in. The library periodically picks new books to feature on the main webpage, and the one they're currently featuring is a Star Wars tie-in novel. I was rather surprised at that, because...well, I love Star Wars like it's my firstborn child, but Star Wars books aren't exactly great literature. In any case, my surprise increased even more when I read the summary of the book:

Star Wars: Allegiance
By: Timothy Zahn

Taking place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, five imperial storm troopers help Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca squelch the Rebellion. And Darth Vader must deal with a new rival, 18 year-old Special Agent, Countess Jade Clario.

The...bzuh? The last time I checked, "squelch" means to put down, to squash, to suppress, get rid of, destroy, etc. So...seeing as though Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca are members of the Rebellion...why exactly would they want to squelch it? And the second part of the summary is even weirder. A "new rival" to Darth Vader? An 18-year-old "Special Agent"? Countess Jade Clario? That sounds like something straight out of a really bad Mary Sue fic. o.O Since when can an 18-year-old rival Darth Vader? And seeing as though she's a Countess, I wonder if she'll end up being the long-lost granddaughter of Count Dooku, or something?

Needless to say, I reserved it out of sheer curiosity.

bzuh?, the stupidity it burns, sues suck, star wars
